My Service

I am able to care for children between the ages of 0 - 12 years, thus providing continuity of care for children from babies to secondary school.

As an Ofsted registered childminder I strive to provide quality professional care from my home-based setting.

In order to help me achieve this aim I became a member of the Hampshire Cluster Childminding Network. As a Network Childminder, I have to undergo additional visits from my Network Co-ordinator to ensure that the service I offer is of a continuing high standard for all children - these visits can be both announced and also without notice. Through the Network I have become an Accredited Childminder which enables parents of eligible children (normally the term following a child's third birthday) to obtain a financial subsidy through the Government's Early Years Education funding initiative (in effect parents can claim up to 15 hours of free childcare per week for 38 weeks a year until the start of school - in an identical way to pre-schools and nurseries).

I understand how difficult it can be for a parent to be sure any childcare option is suitable for their child. I hope that this website may give you an indication of the care your child will receive whilst at Happy Days. It is very important that I work in partnership with the parents so that the care I provide is suitable for their individual child, and to help with this I provide daily diaries for children under 5 years - in which I welcome parents contributions, newsletters, drop off and handover chats (although as there are likely to be other children in my care I unable to talk at length - but am happy to talk by telephone or a mutually agreed meeting should that be more appropriate).

It is a government requirement that all children under 5 years who attend a childcare setting are cared for in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage. This ensures that all care given to young children is play based and follows their interests. Children in this age group will have a learning journey folder which will follow their achievements with photos and observations. Parents are welcome to view their child's folder at any time and this will be theirs to keep once the child leaves my setting.

I also offer care of children attending Uplands Primary School. This can be before, after school and/or during school holidays. Children are able to enjoy activities and games based upon their interests. During school holidays we may be able to enjoy outings to places of interests eg. Staunton Country Park, Blue Reef Aquarium, Longdown Dairy Farm, Moors Valley Country Park, Fort Nelson, Spinnaker Tower, various parks etc.

After a visit to my setting, should you wish to accept a place here, I am able to provide prospective parents with references from parents who are using my setting at the present time and also from parents of children who have left my setting.

I am to keep up-to-date with the ever changing childcare legislation and policies. I do this by undertaking various training opportunities offered to me, subscribe to childcare publications, belong to an internet childminding forum which gives information of any changes in childminding procedures and studying through the open university to gain additional childcare qualifications.
